Performers
Thanks to the performers for providing their creative talents in support of Your Art Here.
DJ Dizi: Master of aural and visual sensation, DJ Dizi will delight you with smooth sounds throughout the evening.
The Binkleys: The Binkley's are a very loud, sometimes a little less loud, band from Bloomington, Indiana.
Sophia Travis: Sophia Travis has been a backing musician for many local artists and bands in the Bloomington area for two decades. Lola, and the Vulgar Boatmen, have been among the highlights known to many followers of the midwest musical family tree. A classical background in piano and harpsichord, and a passion for accordion are partly the basis for Sophia's solo original music. The Pieces (both early and the final line-up) support her music on two albums, Music for Picnics and Music for Swimming. The recordings were produced by Vess Ruhtenberg at Queensize studio. She's a latecomer to singing and writing-- and credits her friend Gretchen Holtz-Nall for encouraging "Music for..." In the end, it could be said that Sophia's music is about friendships.
Sophia Travis CDs can be found at Landlocked, CDBaby, and heard on the MMFT website. For cheerful accordion-related thoughts, and to see Sophia's artwork, visit http://www.hoosiersqueeze.com.
John Walsh and the Sinkholes: Though it's been almost a decade since the release of their debut, Antimatter Eisenhower, John Walsh and the Sinkholes never really went away. They spent the late 90s adapting the sound of Brit-pop idols like Oasis and Blur to their own distinctive Midwestern twang, culminating in the unreleased classic Sinkholes Going Steady. Backed by drummer David Britton and bassist Bob Nugent, Walsh and guitarist Paul Aarstad face the new century with bare-wires guitar and bare-knuckled emotion, making a compelling case for the enduring appeal of the American garage band. Onward and upward!
